David Baskeyfield, concert organist

Most recently the winner of first prize and audience prize at the 2014 Canadian International Organ Competition, David Baskeyfield’s other competition successes include first and audience prizes at St. Albans and the AGO National Competition in Organ Improvisation.
An organ scholar at St. John’s College, Oxford, Mr. Baskeyfield read law and studied organ with John Wellingham and David Sanger until, on encouragement from David Higgs, he crossed the Atlantic to begin graduate work at the Eastman School of Music. There he recently completed his doctorate, studying interpretation under Mr. Higgs and improvisation under William Porter.
Between Oxford and Eastman, he spent a year as organ scholar of Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, accompanying or directing the choirs of professional mixed voices, and men and boys respectively. He is currently Director of Music at Christ Episcopal Church, Pittsford, New York.
Mr. Baskeyfield will play works by Bach, Franck, Dupré, Isoir, Liszt, Mozart, Tournemire, and Vierne.
Admission is free but freewill offerings will be accepted. Doors open at 3PM.
